Sagittarius season is upon us, and as we enter this time of the end of fall and the change over to winter, I took some time to listen to some teachers and reflect on what Sagittarius season means.
I learn about astrology from some great teachers. My main teacher in this area right now is Sajah Popham, who runs the School of Evolutionary Herbalism. I am taking his Astro-Herbalism course, which has pretty much been my foundation and gateway into astrology, the Tarot, and herbalism. I have been able to follow each sign through the seasons and see how they express themselves in nature, as well as through people. My learning in this area is still definitely a work in progress, but as we go through each season and sign, I try to find other ways to connect with the energies that those seasons and signs bring, which is why I have been trying to blog about the signs in relation to the phases of the moon and other relationships.
Sagittarius season is all about moving forward in divine purpose. When you look at the glyph for Sagittarius, you see that it is the arrow from the archer’s bow, moving up and out. Sagittarius is an expansive time, a time to take what was learned in the underworld time of Scorpio and apply it to every day life. It is a time to identify the things in your life that distract you from your purpose and move beyond those things. And if you don’t know what your divine purpose is, Sagittarius season is a good time to do some exploring into what it is.
This medicine has been good for me because I constantly find myself distracted with something. Usually it is social media, which I have taken off of my phone (but I also know how to reinstall), but it also happens with games on my phone, television, and other things. I can’t even tell you how many times in recent tarot readings cards about studying and learning the craft have come up, which is a way I know I have strayed too far off of the path and have gotten myself distracted by something again.
Sagittarius season is also a good time to make sure that your mind and heart are in alignment when it comes to your purpose and path forward. Sagittarius is directly opposite Gemini, which is all about the mind gaining bits of knowledge about all of the things. Sagittarius energy is about taking that knowledge, putting it through the filter of the heart to find the truth of who we are and what our purpose is, and moving forward with that truth. It is a good time to reconnect with your heart space if you have found yourself ungrounded from it.
